West Coast Equestrian Experince

As a teenager, I cherished riding my beloved Saddlebred mare, Rosie, through the stunning landscapes of Port Coquitlam and into the enchanting forests along the Coquitlam River. Capturing the magic of our adventures among the towering old-growth cedar trees and the roaring river has always been a dream of mine. The powerful energy I felt while riding in such an ancient setting inspired me to create a luxurious fine art equestrian photoshoot.

Determined to bring this vision to life, I reached out to the local equestrian community on Facebook for a model call. I was thrilled to connect with talented riders who shared their inspiring equestrian journeys, including the remarkable Tegan and Jessie. Together, we embarked on a breathtaking photoshoot that beautifully showcases the elegance and spirit of equestrian life against the backdrop of British Columbia’s natural beauty. For those in the Greater Vancouver area, Pacific Spirit Regional Park is one of my favourite horse friendly places to go to be embraced with the West Coast forest.

Fraser Valley Riding Coach Inspires

Tegan, who runs Ridgeline Equestrian, an English-based riding lesson facility in Chilliwack, B.C., embodies this connection. It’s no surprise that Jessie chose one of B.C.’s “wildie” (feral) horses as her mount, given the extraordinary qualities these animals possess. 

For Tegan, horses bring a richness unlike any other, and Jessie is undeniably her heart horse. This special bond has allowed both to flourish; Jessie has stood strong as Tegan’s unwavering support, while Tegan has nurtured Jessie’s growth from a long yearling into the stunning 5-year-old she is today. 

Jessie, a spirited wild filly, entered Tegan’s life after her dam, who suffered trauma during a roundup, had to be laid to rest. Despite her past, Jessie has always radiated happiness, with her easygoing, puppy-like personality shining through during our photography sessions.
